A large part of the Raspberry Pi community identify as makers. We all love to make things – from robots to yarn to pottery to art – and share our creations with others. European Maker Week is a celebration of this rapidly growing community, and it takes place between 30 May and 5 June in... Continue reading
Not all the tech fun in the UK happens down near Pi Towers in Cambridge. Here in Scotland, the Mini Maker Faire has been the Edinburgh International Science Festival’s grand finale for four years now. This year’s was the biggest yet, so I headed over to see what was going on. There were plenty of projects... Continue reading
Last weekend, we were proud to take part in the first ever Barnes & Noble Mini Maker Faire. In the United States, pretty much everyone has a Barnes & Noble Booksellers nearby, so it was a fantastic opportunity to spread the word about what we do. We hope that Barnes & Noble can continue to... Continue reading
For our fans in the United States, we’ve joined up with Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Make: Magazine to host Raspberry Jams at a handful of select Barnes & Noble stores on Saturday November 7th at 2pm. Three weeks ago Ben, Eben, Liz, Matt, Pete, Rachel and I headed to San Mateo, California for Maker Faire Bay Area 2015. We thought it might get a bit busy, so we roped in Paul from Pimoroni to give us a hand, and we also had lots of help from fantastic local volunteer Dean over... Continue reading
It’s been quiet around Pi Towers lately. Quiet and disquieting, rather like standing in your nan’s best front room when you were a kid and really needing a wee but were too afraid to break the silence. But we have good and exciting reasons for our quietude: we’ve all been busy preparing for two of... Continue reading
Last week saw Trondheim in Norway host a Maker Faire. Rather than go with the usual stale old poster advertisement, the folks at Norwegian Creations, HK-reklame and Trondheim Makers hacked a piece of civic infrastructure with a Pi, a modded MaKey MaKey and some aluminium strips, ending up with a bus stop you can play Pac Man on. You... Continue reading
