Treat yourself to these self-care projects!

You know what? Self-care looks good on you, digital makers! You’ve all done such an amazing job taking care of yourselves and in some of the most creative ways too! It just goes to show that self-care doesn’t have to include any specific routine or steps, you can indulge yourself in a number of ways, tailored to you. And it should be fun too!

In the spirit of fun and thinking up exciting ways to treat yourself, we want to share two projects that we came across that we love:

Crunch n’ Code!

Self-care can be as simple as a bowl of cereal paired with your favorite tv show, and get this: the secret’s in the box! Taylor Tabb, a fellow digital maker, made a videoconferencing cereal box by augmenting a box of Cap’n Crunch cereal with a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and a few other items. While he might’ve used it to join his Zoom meetings, you could use it to enjoy your favorite cereal and your favorite tv show, cartoon, coding tutorial, etc anywhere in your house.

One stitch at a time!

Just like it is with coding, taking care of yourself takes time and patience. You know what else takes time and patience? Stitching, knitting, looming, etc! If you really think about it, coding and stitching are cut from the same cloth: both involve patterns, putting pieces together to create something bigger, and they both require attention to details. Last November, we compiled a list of textile-themed Raspberry Pi projects that all incorporated knitting in different ways. As you’re trying to figure out what your self-care practices will consist of, take a look at these projects for inspiration.

A lot of fun can come out of taking care of yourself! If you haven’t already, make sure to share your projects with us for this week’s theme.

Keep up the stellar work, digital makers!
