The Raspberry Pi Foundation is delighted to announce the expansion of its Picademy professional development program for educators in the United States in 2017. This is your chance to join a group of 40 educators for a two-day hands-on course in digital making. Participants gain direct experience of maker-friendly technology, and discover a range of ways to use hardware such as the Raspberry Pi in the classroom.
At the end of the course, attendees become Raspberry Pi Certified Educators. They join an active network of Picademy graduates working around the world. Since 2014 we have trained more than 900 educators, who reach an estimated 70,000 children and young people every year.
Educators of all types can apply to attend Picademy. This includes classroom teachers, museum educators, librarians, educator coaches, and community educators. No experience with technology is required.
I’m still trying to process the whole weekend, but it is safe to say it was one of the most inspirational PD opportunities I’ve ever had. I find myself wishing I could experience it again and relive the thrill of booting up my Raspberry Pi for the first time. –Peter Strawn
Usually, I attend a conference & then move on to the next thing. Not #picademy though. I’ve been learning more everyday since I left!
- For: educators of all types
- Time: two full days
- Cost: free
How to apply
Click here to apply. Please note that we receive a very high volume of applications and have very limited availability. We are therefore forced to turn away many excellent educators. In 2016, only one in ten applicants was selected to attend. If you are not selected, we hope you will apply again in the future.
Each venue has a different application deadline, as shown in the table below. Please select your preferred venue and course dates at the end of the application.
