Darren Murtagh

I am the manager of an engineering design department in my main job, but I have also been supporting schools as a volunteer for almost two years. Principally, this support was through an ENTHUSE-funded STEM project to help introduce and promote engineering and design to a cohort of pupils from years 5 and 6.

After attending an extremely useful Picademy in Cardiff, I have now been able to deliver two STEM training sessions at Milton Park Primary School. This training consisted of introducing the Raspberry Pi and its use to eight members of staff from primary schools within the Weston-super-Mare education trust.

This training has been enthusiastically received by all attending staff, who feel that there is huge potential for the Pi in the classroom, including cross-curricular use and benefits. Further staff-training sessions are now being planned, which will help to increase the Pi's use across local primary schools.

You can contact Darren via email or via Google+.
