This week for Digital Making at Home, we’re coming together to code for a special occasion. Can you guess what it is? Here’s a hint: it’s a celebration for both you and us, of the home that’s all around us all the time, even as we’re all staying safely indoors right now. We’re talking about Earth Day!
Let’s celebrate our planet!
Earth is the home we all share, and because it’s Earth Day this week, we’re using code to show the greatest planet in the whole solar system some much deserved love!
This is your perfect chance to think about how everyone all over the world can work together to take care of our planet the way that it takes care of us. Be inspired by nature: listen to the birds chirping, feel the breeze outside in your backyard, imagine what you love about our planet — and then share it with us using code!
See how our team is celebrating our planet by coding along with them and these exciting projects:
Our planet is not only home to us, but it’s also home to all types of fabulous bugs and insects. Find out how you can create your own 3D bug, with Mr C and his sidekick Xavier!

You know the best part about the rain is waiting to see if there’s a rainbow afterwards! Learn with Christina how to use the Sense HAT emulator to predict when there’s a good chance of spotting a rainbow.

NEW PROJECT ALERT! Help spread the word about the endangered animals we share our planet with by developing your own smartphone app with Marc.
Share your love of Earth with us
Don’t forget to share with us how you’re celebrating our planet! We LOVE seeing what you create, so once your project is done, please send it to us. You can also share your feedback with us, so keep that in mind if you ever think of ideas or themes for future weeks!
Happy Earth Day, digital makers!
PS Did you know? You can access all of our resources for free, forever! That’s all thanks to the gracious donations of individuals and organisations that support the work that we’re doing. You can support us too!
