Year 9 – Lesson 6 – Always another way
To conclude the unit, learners will spend half the lesson completing a summative assessment.
In the time remaining, learners will be introduced to alternative (symbolic) representations for images and sound, such as vector graphics and MIDI music. They will also be introduced to what compression is and why it is necessary.
Learning objectives
- Recall that bitmap images and pulse code sound are not the only binary representations of images and sound available
- Define ‘compression’, and describe why it is necessary
