Last week, thanks to the generosity of HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Patron of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, we were able to take 200 members of the Pi community to St James’s Palace. Bookending some inspirational speeches from Foundation CEO Philip Colligan, Code Club co-founder Clare Sutcliffe, and the Duke of York himself, attendees were free to talk with other members of the community, and to learn more about Raspberry Jam events, Code Clubs, and opportunities for our younger members, while taking in the splendour of the palace.
We also saw the launch of a new MagPi Essentials book, Learn to Code with C, written by Simon Long. As always, the guide is available as a FREE PDF via the link. It, and a suite of other Essentials books will be available in print Real Soon Now – watch this space!
The Alexa Development team removed the limitations of the Alexa Voice Service for makers, allowing for hands-free communication via a wake-word, a feature previously available with the Echo and Dot models. And Wednesday was Ada Lovelace Day, with celebrations across the globe paying tribute to women, past and present, making a difference in the world of STEM.
So as we prepare to take a well-earned rest from the week, have a read of our top picks: I’ll see you next Friday!
