logic pi any good?

Fri Feb 13, 2015 12:57 am

Someone make fpga board for pi but I see they use SPI interface.that's too slow. Fpga usually have bursts of data coming through. SPI is not good for that. Any other options?

No, there is no other choice than SPI at this time.

Theoretically, RPF/Broadcom could document the SOC's "Secondary Memory Interface". It would use up almost all of the pins on the expansion header, but should be cable of at least 50-100 MB/sec, possibly more.

Theoretically, using both the CSI and DSI, if Broadcom provided enough documentation, high speed transfers would be possible.

If you get an FPGA awith a USB IP block, and a soft embedded core, you could get a share of the 480Mbps from the single USB port of the SOC, however it would be shared with the LAN and four USH host ports.
