Warning: Incompatible Operating System(s) Detected

Wed Feb 11, 2015 12:43 am

Hello,

I am extremely new to using a Raspberry Pi. I have just received my first Raspberry Pi Model B+, and have followed the helpful instructional video about downloading and getting NOOBS to work.

So far I have downloaded and extracted the NOOBS files and moved them to a 16Gb micro SD card (the card has been formatted using the SD Card Association's formatter tool), and applied power to my Raspberry Pi with the SD card in the slot.

After clicking Raspbian as my OS of choice to install, I confirm that I want to install Raspbian, and then another confirmation window comes up that reads:

"Warning: incompatible Operating System(s) detected. The following OSes aren't supported on this revision of Raspberry Pi and may fail to boot or function correctly: Raspbian"
Yes/No

I am unsure if this confirmation window should be appearing or not and what my next step(s) should be.

I have read through some of the stickies on this page and I have not come across anything relating to this warning message.

If anyone could provide me some assistance it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

@antonbruhn
AIUI at the time of posting this, the NOOBS version of RaspBMC does not work on a RPi2. Nor does the image version of RaspBMC on the Downloads page at raspberrypi.org.

RaspBMC isn't compatible with the pi2 and never will be, the developer of RaspBMC has moved his efforts to developing OSMC instead. The Developer of RaspBMC and OSMC claims that OSMC is compatible with the Pi2 (I have no reason to doubt that).

You can get the latest version of OpenElec from their website but not through NOOBS (I don't think the version that you would get through NOOBS has been updated to the latest one yet).

That doesn't help the original enquirer @FourthLiner who is attempting to install Raspbian...

I recall a similar issue when the Model A+ was released, but this is about a B+: which version of NOOBS have you downloaded and installed please?

I have downloaded the current version available under the downloads section:

NOOBS version 1.3.12, release date 2015-02-02.

Since posting this originally, I have clicked "YES" to confirm and gone ahead with the installation of Raspbian.

Everything seems to be working correctly, I am not sure if I should be expecting any possible problems with the Raspberry Pi not working properly.

Using NOOBS 1.4.1 works fine on RPi 2, but gives the warning: that Raspbian is not supported on the B+

I ignored the warning and continued. The process completed anf said the OS was installed correctly. I'll post again if I run into problems.

New to Raspberry Pi, and I got the B+ 512MB version.

I just downloaded the latest NOOBS and got the same error:

Warning: incompatible Operating System(s) detected. The following OSes aren't supported on this revision of Raspberry Pi and may fail to boot or function correctly: Raspbian

Is this a bug in NOOBS? Should I ignore it for now?

It's a bug in NOOBS. Ignore it.
