New Exec Officer at the Foundation

Thu Feb 05, 2015 2:11 pm

Thought it was worth posting this here because there's been some confusion! You might have seen a job ad today (and if you're qualified, we'd love you to apply for it): we're hiring a new Exec Officer for the Foundation.

This is because Lance Howarth, our current CEO at the Foundation, is moving away from Cambridge down to the south coast so he can enjoy the seaside and his family. We'll miss him - and we're looking for someone who can do the job as well as he does.

As most of you are are aware, Raspberry Pi has a structure a bit like that of Oxfam, which is a charity that makes money (in part) by running shops. We're a charity (The Raspberry Pi Foundation), but we also own a trading company (Raspberry Pi Trading). Lance currently looks after the charity side, which covers our donations, the education team and outreach; while Eben runs the Trading side, where the engineers, marketing and activities that make money are covered. The two parts of the business work very closely together (I, for example, work for both sides.) We are a not-for-profit, so all profits from Trading go straight back to the Foundation, where we spend them on our charitable aims: getting kids into computing.

If you're interested in applying, here's the ad. We will only be considering applicants with a lot of experience and a great track record - if that's you, we'd love to hear from you!
