Can it use windows?

Seriously though, would it be possible to attach one to windows / viewing ports on the ISS so it points into space?
(i assume yes within the limits of the cable but would like to be sure nevertheless)

I should think so - there are plenty of photos taken with regular cameras, though I don't know if they ever clamp cameras in place, for long duration photography, or just use handheld:

I wonder if the IR camera would work for photographing sprites? (It's not a thermal camera but that's not strictly necessary...)

Are there any limitations as to where the Astro Pi can be located?

We are seeking approval to run Astro Pi in the Columbus, Destiny and Kibo Laboratories, as well as the Cupola. We will have to position the Astro Pi in locations that do not interfere with other ISS operations and where there is an accessible power supply.

So yep, we should be able to aim the camera out of the Cupola window!

If you look at the ReelNASA youtube channel, there are videos of cameras being used to shoot out of the ISS.
