Tips on kernel 3.18.3

Wed Feb 04, 2015 9:27 pm

Hi everybody,
someone is making experience with Kernell 3.18.3?
I would like to ask your opinion. How work Kernell 3.18, compared to 3.12 Kernell (even the latest version)? I am reluctant to upgrade Kernell.
I need some advice.

The stock kernel (available with apt-get) is now 3.18.5+
It's running well on my Bs, A+ and Pi2

Hello,

I'm facing issue with this kernel (3.18.5+ #744 PREEMPT Fri Jan 30 18:19:07 GMT 2015 armv6l GNU/Linux) on my PI B+ using Razberry Z-Wave board.
I tried to do a full install of the z-way server (wget -q -O - razberry.z-wave.me/install | sudo bash) and I am running in this error with the tar command :

Code: Select all

tar (child): /tmp/z-way-server/z-way-server-RaspberryPiXTools-v2.0.0.tgz : open impossible: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

The same install was perfectly working last week - Since that date, only Raspbian kernel image changed (zwave server is still the same) so I guess the issue is coming from the kernel.

Any Idea ?

I don't think it's the kernel. It ran OK on my RPI2 running Raspbian Wheezy with 3.18.5-v7+

I'd start by cleaning up the junk in /var/log and /var/cache/archive to free up some space. Then if not using NOOBS make sure you've expanded the filesystem to use the full card.

Does the .tgz file referred to appear in /tmp ?
The error message implies that it could not be found.
Is there a chance that you downloaded and then rebooted and /tmp was reset on reboot?
