Use a Raspberry Pi to convert video signals?

Wed Jan 28, 2015 2:44 pm

Hi everyone,

Adinias here.

I was wondering if I could use my Raspberry Pi to connect my CRT-TV to a computer. My idea was that the Pi would be the converter.

So it would be like this:

CRT-TV (RCA-yellow) -> Raspberry Pi
Raspberry Pi (HDMI) -> PC

So, in this way: I wondered if my Raspberry Pi could be made to convert the Yellow RCA input to a HDMI output.

Is this possible somehow? Or is it impossible?

Thanks in advance.

The Composite (yellow) is output only

You would need a USB EasyCAP DC60 (STK1160 chip) Input Device to capture the Composite input, search google for how to.....

Not clear exactly what Adinias wants.

1. HDMI signal from computer converted to composite video into TV

or

2. Composite video from TV converted to HDMI into computer.

Not that it really matters as neither is possible. In 1) the RPi's HDMI socket cannot function as as INPUT. In 2) the RPi's composite video socket cannot function as an INPUT and it is rather unlikely that the computer's HDMI socket can function as an INPUT.
