RPi B+ TRRS audio isn't working

hello! I recently got my first RPi for christmas, and I've been setting it up recently. The TRRS cable I ordered originally didn't work, so I got my soldering iron out and fixed it according to this diagram:

I've tested My fixed cable multiple times, all coming out correct. The actual audio I'm getting from the Pi on my screen is just a lot of static and fuzz. The funny thing is, is that The pitch will change with different colors on my screen. I KNOW that this isn't a problem with my wiring, I've double and triple checked it and the diagram proves to be right. any Ideas?
Oh, and I set up using the NOOBS setup and am on raspbian.
