running dosbox on the framebuffer without dispmanx SDL has some issues. it can crash on exit, or leave the screen in an unusable state. No doubt this is linked to SDL code incompatibility with the pi framebuffer - I am currently looking into that.

to benchmark it (change config between core=dynamic / core=normal to see a difference)
I decided to look into all this due to the "fastdosbox" source not seeming all that fast. Turns out, there is nothing in the fastdosbox released source really much different from the core dosbox code - it just requires knowing how to enable the dynamic recompilation.
I will be adding an SVN build of dosbox into RetroPie also.
