Wirelessly connecting Raspberry Pi to a Desktop

Hello,

I was wondering if you can connect to a Raspberry Pi via wifi, but without internet. Can I use a router (without internet) to create a local network that my desktop and the Raspberry Pis can connect to and communicate with each other through the router? I would like to use VNC to access the RPi's GUI. Any help would be appreciated!

I have seen guides about connecting directly via an ethernet cable between a desktop and a Raspberry Pi, but I would like to do it without a cable.

You can either connect directly by having your Pi act as an access point (AP mode), or simply connect both your computer and your Pi to a router. No internet required, just the IP that the router assigns your Pi.

Acess this tutorial and you will be able to connect to your RPi with a ethernet cable from your computer directly to the raspberry pi without the need of the router.. but it might be easier with the router trough LAN.
