Problem With AV output Raspberry PI model B+

Wed Dec 24, 2014 7:37 am

Hey friends,
I have recently bought a raspberry pi model b+. I also bought a AV 4-pole cable. I installed noobs on my sd card, provided it with electricity, connected a mouse & keyboard, and the AV cable. When i turn on the power, the raspberry pi LED's start glowing. After sometime, a damaged screen display comes only on half of the screen( the screen is not damaged, the signal is). With difficulty I have installed raspbian using noobs, but after it says 100% downloaded(or whatever as the signal wasn't really good) and raspbian is installed and proceeds to raspbian installation, the screen goes black, with no signal coming up. I left it there for 5 minutes but still nothing. The keyboard and mouse are working fine, but I don't really know whats the problem. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.\

That means your AV cable has the signal and ground wires reversed.

The TRRS needs GND on the second ring and AV signal on the sleeve.

This adapter works: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380747364232

Sir my cable looks a lot like the cable on raspberryspy. The converter you gave, will most probably be not available. Shall I try another av cable sir that looks similar? Thanks in advance.

Dougie gave you the necessary information. You just don't seem to like it. You will have to find or make a cable that is wired correctly.

Maybe install Raspbian Wheezy WITHOUT NOOBS

Raspbian will fall back to the TRRS4 Composite out if no HDMi plugged in

Obviously you need the correct cable and the previous link shows how to check the cable grounding,
also the TV/Monitor needs standard Composite in ;)

Have already tried with Raspbian Wheezy direct. Didn't work. Sorry I am not much of a hardware hacker currently, so am not really able to understand the table. However I believe my cable looks exactly like the cable on raspberrypispy. What should i do?

They all "look" the same as they all have a standard TRRS 4pole male connector.

You need a multimeter to check the cable you are using is wired correctly, as stated on the linked web page.

Unfortunately, I don't have any of the electronic media listed in the post. Is there a way I can directly check with my raspberry pi without wasting money buying extra cables.

Ok I will look out for that adapter when I go to market, but is there any other way to connect the pi. I am just asking. Still thanks for all the replies. Further help will be appreciated.
