Hi-
Rather than using an off-the-shelf PLC, I'm looking towards using Rasberry PI as a supervisory controller for our hot air turbine systems (turn hot air into electricity), so complete beginner here with no PI experience, but quite a bit of PLC and larger power station control software knowledge.
Eventually, I will need an I/O module that is equipped with a CANBUS connection, 2 x Digital counter, 4 Analogue inputs, 8 digital outputs and a basic LCD display. Fully expecting to have to design one from scratch, but was hoping to buy a few development platforms to get me going. I've seen a couple on the web (e.g. SK PAN PICAN), but they seem to use all of the available GPIO pins. Is there a way of stacking up multiple I/O boards?
As an aside, will probably use two PI's, one with the safety envelope code installed, the other with the main control code that can be updated easily.
Jon.
