Connect to RPi via SSH wirelessly without wireless router

Mon Dec 08, 2014 7:19 pm

Hello there,

I want to connect a Debian laptop to the RPi using SSH. I don't have a wireless router or internet connection at all, but my RPi does have a usb dongle wifi adapter.

How can I do this most easily?

I thought I would make a wireless accesspoint on the RPi which I wanted to connect my laptop to, and somehow access the RPi via SSH on that network, and I followed all the steps in this tutorial, but at the end my laptop does find the wireless network hosted by the RPi, but refuses to connect at all (without returning an error) (perhaps cuz the RPi doesn't have an internet connection?). This is the tutorial I went through:

https://learn.adafruit.com/setting-up-a ... l-software

What do you recommend for me? What is the easiest way?

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,
Marius

You could make a access point of your laptop and connect to it with the raspberry.
Or if you have a smart phone, set it as access point and connect laptop an pi to it.
