Dynamic DNS not working

Thu Dec 04, 2014 6:44 pm

I wonder if there are more users here who utilize the dynamic dns service provided by dnsdynamic.org?
I am using them and have three different domains all ending in dnsdynamic.com and lately they have stopped resolving.
They are all updated from my different VPN server RPI:s and when I go to my account at dnsdynamic.org the correct IP addresses are shown for each of my domains, yet trying to connect using the dynamic domain name fails because the hostname is not recognized.
Using the IP address as-is works.

But the IP will change when I relocate the units so I need the dynamic service.

Is my problem shared by anyone else here or am I alone? In the first case dnsdynamic.org has a problem (cannot find anything about it on google, though) but in the second case it must be my own account or such that is having problems.

I have the same problem with them. It started happening today or even yesterday. Worked great for many months before today without any problems. nslookup reports SERVFAIL

I could not rely on this service so I bit the bullet and bought myself a "real" domain and DNS service.
The dnsdynamic domains are still not working.
And there is no reply from their "speedy" support.
But my new domain is working and I can move on.

But they do not have a free service anymore...
If I am to pay, then I might as well buy a proper domain and DNS service.
Which I did.

I also registered a few domains with dyndns.com and pay them a yearly fee. I am a happy customer.

Sometimes free isn't the best value.

no-ip.org requires you to enter a captcha once a month for its free accounts, but you get 3 redirects per account.

I had a similar problem with NO-IP earlier this year. It would just stop working.
But they seem to have solved the problem and lately it's been working fine.

http://www.duckdns.org/

Totally free for as long as you want (3 hosts). Absolute doddle to set up for any platform & language. I was so impressed I made a donation, now I have 10 hosts if I want them.

You're allowed 4 hosts.

raspberrypi.duckdns.org & raspberry-pi.duckdns.org have been taken.
