That's what it claimed (You got the "retro style" website, with a message saying it was "down for maintenance". But I'm not sure that it really was. The reasons for this are a little varied (read: beyond the scope of this post), but I suspect that it just puts up that message whenever it is feeling, shall we say, overwhelmed.
And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

(One of the best lines I've seen on this board lately)

The backroom stuff is pretty robust now from a demand point of view - it can handle a lot more people than are usually on here at any one time - this looks like either planed a maintenance, or a problem at the host. I suspect the latter.

I tried to do a tax return today, and HMRC self assessment was off line for maintenance. Once a year I do this, and I picked the one time in the year it was offline.
