Arch Wifi Setup

Sun Jun 24, 2012 5:50 pm

I bought the edimax EW-7811Un wifi adapter for my rasberry pi after hearing that it should be fully compatible with linux and the ARM11 v5 architecture and then, through further research, found out that people have been using it with their pi's. However, the arch linux image does not seem to come packed with any wifi tools, nor does it seem to come packed with any tools to compile a wifi package from source. Does anybody know how I can setup wifi?

Arch linux comes with nothing because it expects you to:
A) build it your way from the ground up
B) solve your own problems as they will be many.

Luckily solving problems in Arch is super easy because Arch linux has THE BEST documentation out there. Most questions can be answered on their wiki. The wiki entry for wireless can be found here:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless

If you are looking for something that will work out of the box more often, try Debian.
echo "Something Useful" > /dev/null

Return to “Beginners”
