PI Media Server SOON?

Mon Nov 24, 2014 6:42 pm

I know PI was never built to transcode HD video. But have to spend hundreds of dollars on a Windows PC to run Plex, Playon and other video media software is so 1990's.

Does anyone know of a project or product like PI that will have the CPU power to handle HD video with the apps l mentioned without spending a ton of money?

So you are looking for a cheap transcoder for HD?

Not sure what out there would be able to do the job tbh.

Hmmm.... One wonders if some enterprising chap (i.e. not me) could devise a HAT, perhaps with an ASIC or a suitable dedicated processor, that would do transcoding as a Pi add on....
