Failer to download Wheezy

Wed Nov 12, 2014 12:19 pm

Not a good start.

I got my Rasberry Pi yesterday. I've tried three times to download the Wheezy OS, as recommended by my Rasberry Pi for Dummies ebook.
On my home PC (windows 8 ACER) I get a corruped image file notification and my PC at work (window XP lenovo) the file fails download completely! :?

What am I doing wrong? I've followed the instructions. I've tried downloading the Noobs, but that doesn't work either.

Can someone help?

What web browser are you running on your Acer. Getting the NOOBS ZIP file isn't any different to pulling any other file from any other website.

You just need to click the link and your browser should just download it.

Actually, most workplaces frown on people going on the Internet, so it is probably intentional.
And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

(One of the best lines I've seen on this board lately)

Probably not a good suggestion. Getting the torrent version requires having a torrent client installed.

Thanks all for the various suggestions.

I've now tried my final option which is my trusty Windows 7 net book. The message I get from this when trying to open the zip is that the file is invalid. I can't believe all three computers I have at my disposal are faulty!

The option of getting a decent computer from work is not going to work. Windows 7 computers are being rolled out as we speak and they have limited access to the outside world, so we can't infect the company with viruses.

Any more ideas, other than buying a pre set up noob card, which is admitting defeat really?

A variation on what I was typing as this came in - simply ask someone else to download the .zip file and give it to you on a usb flash memory stick. You can do the unzipping and transfer to an SD card yourself later.
