Unable to use 'startx'

Hi guys, the problem started first when i tried to do 'auto login and auto startx' from this website.

I have tried both methods suggested in the website, the only thing that worked is the auto login, but the 'auto startx' does not work for some reason.

I am sure that many of you out there have tried this before and it may or may not have worked for you. So i am hoping that you guys could help me rectify this problem that i am facing right now.

After typing startx, the screen shows;

No protocol specified
..
xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server: Resource temporarily unavailable

waiting for X server to shut down Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file.

xinit: server error
xauth: timeout in locking authority file /home/pi/.Xauthority

Please do not suggest me to rename the files, the problem is i am unable to access into the normal home page itself, let alone know how to rename the files. It is because everytime i type startx, the same thing repeats itself over and over again.

I also encountered the similar question ! The information below is my board and OS:

board: Raspberry Pi 2 B
os: Ubuntu mate 15.10

I can't logged into my count even the password is correct. So I followed your guide: sudo rm ./Xauthority .
