Problem while setup the raspberry pi B

Mon Oct 20, 2014 3:37 pm

Hi, I have a Raspberry Pi model B. Previously, I have successfully setup this raspberry pi with a kingston 16GB class 10 SD card. The version of the NOOBS I forget already. Few day ago, I accidentally format that SD card, It cause me cannot use the Raspberry Pi. So, I download again the NOOBS which is latest version 1_3_10 to setup again the Raspberry Pi with same SD card. However, this time set up is fail. It take a long time to load a stage call 'Formatting setting partition'. Then, it show a error box which write 'Error writing RlscOS blob'. Then, I try to download the older version of NOOBS (not sure same as the NOOBS I setup first time or not). This error not appear again. However, when reach the stage which is choose th ... ile listed, the box are empty, just can press a exit. What should I do to solve this problem? Thanks.

I'd use a new card and start again, or completely wipe the SD card and start again. It depends on what you're using to prepare the card. Window or Mac : https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

If there are no Operating Systems listed it probably means you have downloaded and copied the NOOBS-lite (network-only) installer. This requires a working wired ethernet connection to the internet, which your RPi does not have.

Alternatively you may have downloaded the full NOOBS installer but failed to copy the 'OS' folder onto the SD card.

Not specifically, but, SD cards aren't the most reliable things on the face of the planet, and I've had boot issues because the card has gone bad. I'd recommend having 3 cards for each Pi you own. I'd stay way from class 10's they won't gain you very much and can be a source of problems. Large, fast cards are a lot more likely to be fakes. I stick with Sandisk 8GB class 4.

If you install standalone Raspbian Wheezy, when booted it has SSH enabled by default:

http://www.raspberrypi.org/documentatio ... /README.md

http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads

It would help when stating Laptop you could enlighten to what Operating System, presuming it is Windows NT then enabling Internet Connection Sharing and using an ethernet cable to link the RPi should suffice !

What are you using to determine that NOOBS is misbehaving ?

Because of can't show out the OS file when I boot in the SD card. I already followed from the raspberry pi official website. Actually,I also not sure whether this problem is because of the SD card or the NOOBS.

I think we may have crossed wires here. Do you have a display keyboard/mouse that will connect directly to the Pi ?

If not, you can't use NOOBS.

To use a remote keybaord & display follow fruitoftheloom's links.

Right, I'd worry about remote connections when you've got NOOBs going. New SD card.....

Depending on where you live, your local big supermarket might be a good source of SD cards. 8GB and Class 4 is good enough for now.

Using the monitor and keyboard of a laptop involves a remote connection.

Get it running with the Pi's own first.

Oh, I see. Can I know if I just want to install Raspian OS. Can I download the image file from the raspberry pi website and use the win32imager to install it to my SD card?Is it will have same result as I download NOOBS and install Raspian OS?

If the card is knackered, it won't work with either.

Ok.As a conclusion, SD card is the most important factor.
