Pi Tablet

Sat Oct 18, 2014 11:00 am

This is my 2nd topic on this.

Hello, this is my 2nd concept for a pi tablet.

Same design with some changes. Still wooden, touchscreen, USB attachable keyboard.

One of the new ideas which got me to reupload this was the fact that this time it will be running android 4.0 ice cream sandwich.

Oh and new idea!

There can be hinges on the back of it, and when you pull the hinges out it reveals the internals, so you add what you want on.

Do you like this idea?

Btw dont judge me im only still a beginner with software

You cannot get ice cream sandwich on the raspberry pi. They have been working on it, but the project has basically stopped. Even android 2.3 which works is so slow that you can't even use it. Keep it simple and use raspbian
There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary and those who don't.

No Android and if you think in commercial terms - will cost more than nowadays modern Chinese tablet. There is already 13.3" Raspberry laptop on Indiegogo and it costs around the same you would have to pay for an entry level decent Bay Trail laptop with Win 8.1 (and Linux if you want to install there), which can run an IDE to script Raspberry remotely and at the same time run other apps without problems (except gaming).

The Broadcom SoC used in Raspberry was designed as an add-on for TV and media players. It quickly was made obsolete by Android TV sticks and better SoCs integrated with some TVs. Making it a tablet or laptop wont yield a good product as it's the wrong hardware for the job. Not to mention that it uses older ARM architecture that for many ARM-related developers is dead (in general whole Android world).
