New Pi Boot Problem

Tue Oct 14, 2014 9:34 pm

Hello,

I have just purchased my first Raspberry Pi model B+ with preloaded NOOBS card. Today I have connected it to my TV via HDMI along with mouse and keyboard. The initial screen asked to install an OS, which I choose as Raspbian. It then spent 10 minutes installing, after which it rebooted and code began scrolling down the screen. However it froze and a part of the code said 'unable to mount root fs on unknown-block'.

I formated the supplied card and copied over the latest NOOBS files and tried again, once again same problem. I tried booting without any USB devices connected and I tried a different power supply but to no avail.

I am a beginner with the Raspberry Pi and was hoping that by buying a Pre-loaded SD card I would soon be able to boot the Pi and begin learning to code.

However after purchasing the Pi and accessories needed I am unable to proceed.

Hopefully this is a fairly common problem and some kind person or persons can help me with this problem. :)

Kind Regards,

Byron

have you read the boot sticky, http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 28&t=58151 ?

A "new" boot problem is very seldom, but people posting a problem before looking through the forum we get all the time.

in this case it sounds you are using a corrupt (fake) card, that is missing half or more of the flash memory that it says it has.
Either that or you still have a power problem, try another power cable.
