Pi B+ Not Booting / USBs no Power

Wed Oct 08, 2014 12:27 pm

okay ... ;

here's my situation ...

i'ved connected my Rasberry Pi B+ over HDMI to a Samsung LED-TV .

I've got a generic USB(2) PC-Keyboard/mouse .
The Power is brought up by a Nokia Lumia micro-usb charger .

I have no video signal on the TV, the Leds are constant RED / GREEN (Not blinking , faded or dim) .
None of the connected usb-devices are getting any power (no sign on the indicators .)

could this all be because I have no SD-card installed ? dumb me ???

I have this 16Gb SD card on my Zoom H4n, that is connected by USB to the Pi B+ .
The SD Formatter util by SD Association sees the H4n SD as it should be as a smart card .

so I'm trying to boot from the sd in the H4n connected over USB ...
if I'd only get them USB-ports working !!!

WHERE AM I GOING WRONG HERE !!!

Anyone ... ):

All Pi's can only boot (initially) from a (micro-)SDHC card inserted into the (micro-)SDHC card built into the Pi itself! This is because there is no "on-board" firmware or "bios-equivalent" - ie. the "lowest-level firmware" is read from the (micro-)SDHC card (and you can't use an external card reader, which I'm guessing your "Zoom H4n" is?). When that happens the green ACTivity led will flash to indicate the card being read etc.

Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

Does the OP understand that not only does the RPi require a micro-SD card in its slot, but also that card must have the appropriate files on it?
