Audacious unable to set up output format

Sat Sep 27, 2014 11:35 am

I have a new B+ with updated Raspian Wheezy and audacious installed via apt-get. I started it from a terminal when I encountered problems and got the message "mpg123: Error opening file:someFile.mp3: Unable to set up output format! (code 1). Googling I found messages a couple of years old saying " resolved after cross compiled mpg123 with option "--with-cpu=generic_fpu"." My question is should this not have been fixed so that audacious installed from the repository works out of the box? I don't want to start building things that will then not work properly if updated with apt-get at a future date.

Thanks

Dear all, I experienced the same error in my configuration but I finally managed to get audacious play my mp3 files. I installed the package mpg123 from the raspbian repository and disabled the mpg123 plugin from within the audacious settings. After restarting audacious the playback of mp3 files worked fine.
