I am a NEWBE trying to setup the Raspberry Pi. I downloaded the NOOBS file from here and after formatting my SD card I attempted to install the NOOBS download and was greeted with:
Windows cannot open the folder.
The Compressed (zipped) Folder 'C:\NOOBS\NOOBS_v1_3_10.zip' is invalid.
Anyone else have this problem?
Since I am limited to a DSL the download takes about 2 hours and this is my second download of this file with the same results.
Please do not suggest that I order a preformatted SD card with NOOBS installed on it.

1. Use sha1sum to check that you have a good copy.
2. Install a copy of 7-zip and see if it can unzip your NOOBS 1.3.10 zip file.

Your copy of the ZIP file is broken. Try downloading it again.

I've just downloaded NOOBs over ADSL. It took just under half an hour for 721...kB (though I've no idea how clever my internet feed is)

The last few times I've downloaded the Raspbian image, it has taken about an hour and a half, and the rate has been very slow (like 200Kbytes/second - well below anything remotely resembling my ISP connection rate). I.e., it is being throttled at the source.
Mind you, no that I am complaining; I fully understand and respect their reasons for throttling it, and I'm not in much of a hurry anyway. It doesn't bother me that it takes that long.

Noobs was a bit faster at 1 minute 55 seconds for 704MB at 6.09MB/s.

People in the UK seem to do OK.
I'm assuming it is based on your source IP address (i.e., location).

It's more likely to be based on which mirror of http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org that you stumble upon. I suspect your local, preferred mirror is rate limiting your traffic. http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianMirrors has the details.Joe Schmoe wrote:People in the UK seem to do OK.

Not really a reply but an update.
I broke down and downloaded BitTorrent and used that to download the NOOBS.zip torrent file. That worked and I was then able to move the extracted files to the SDcard for use in the B+. Up and running (kinda). Locked into the GUI and the system will not accept the password I entered OR the default password so I have more to learn...
The timeframe using BitTorrent to download the NOOBS.ziptorrent file was 2 hours and about 15 minutes but a least it worked!

If you mean that you did not see anything appear on screen while typing the password then that's normal.system will not accept the password I entered OR the default password so I have more to learn...
