Skipped first boot

Sun Sep 14, 2014 2:31 pm

So I'm a complete noob when it comes to this stuff but I decided I wanted to learn so I bought a raspberry pi. I set it up just like it says to however it seems to skip the boot up sequence where you enter the username and password and instead goes straight to some weird desktop, it has the xbmc logo in the top left corner and there are options for music and pictures etc. but no way to access the terminal or internet like I've seen online. I'm probably missing something really obvious but if someone could tell me what that would be great thanks

If your SD card was prepared with NOOBS then hit [Shift] key during boot to get to the boot menu then choose a different OS to install. You want Raspbian.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

That's not done anything :/ I think I may have the wrong SD card! Thanks though.

You probably want to put NOOBS on again. Refer to these instructions: http://www.raspberrypi.org/help/noobs-setup/
There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary and those who don't.
