Netgear WG111T

Sun Jun 17, 2012 5:08 pm

Will this work with the raspberry pi?

How would I install the drivers for it?

How would I connect to a wireless wifi network on the raspberry I through it?

The WG111v2 is listed as working but I don't know if it's the same thing or not. If it is, instructions are also at the above link.

If it is the same, I cannot find any instructions. How do I connect to a wifi network? Will I need special drivers?

I can't get the WG111v2 to associate - this is under OpenElec, but thought I'd widen the search for a solution.

I happened to have the Netgear, and to a first approximation it seems to be found OK - dmesg says:

[ 2.558934] usb 1-1.2: Product: NETGEAR WG111v2
[ 2.558948] usb 1-1.2: Manufacturer: NETGEAR WG111v2
[ 2.558963] usb 1-1.2: SerialNumber: 000FB5D39D5F

lsmod says:

Module Size Used by
rfcomm 31273 0
bluetooth 182192 3 rfcomm
rtl8187 49672 0
eeprom_93cx6 2047 1 rtl8187

(rtl8187 is the relevant module)

Ifconfig wlan0:

wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0F:B5:D3:9D:5F
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 TX bytes:0 (0.0

I've used the OpenElec "OS Settings" to configure Network 2 for WLAN, WLAN0, WEP and the correct SSID and key.

The router (another Netgear) shows no association.
