Hello!

My name is Matthew Pride. I'm looking into a Raspberry Pi for a friend of mine who is wanting a cheap computer for her son to do his online schooling on. I don't know who they'll be doing the online school through, but it'd be high school, not college. Would a Raspberry Pi computer be powerful enough to do that? I understand that they run off of Linux and that'd be a little tricky to teach him perhaps, but I have a year to do so before they make the switch so I ought to be able to teach him in time.

It might just work, if the website doesn't use flash. If it uses flash, then you can't use it on the raspberry pi. You are much better off buying a laptop. The raspberry pi was built to teach kids programming, not as a laptop replacement.
