I was curious if there is a way to use Ethernet in conjunction with an Edimax-7811un? And if not how to set the primary Internet device as eth0 not wlan0.

Yes, you can use them both together, but you'll have to disable ifplugd (or at least not let it manage the wlan). Otherwise it will disable wlan as soon as eth0 is plugged in.
