raspbmc auto login

Sat Aug 30, 2014 7:08 am

Hi, I have raspbmc set up to log into my user. I would like the Pi to automatically log in as the Pi user without asking for a password. Is there a switch to enable this?

Thanks

Exactly what login are you referring to?
Raspbmc does not use a login by default. When starting up it already automatically logs in as user pi and starts the XBMC GUI.

Hi,

my Pi is connected to the TV. When I power up the Pi I am asked for to login as either "master user" or "tim", the latter I set up myself

Cheers

I see... These don't seem to be related to the usual raspberry pi (raspbian) users, but to profiles set up in XBMC or RaspBMC settings. Is that correct.

Unfortunately I have never used those, but I would assume that they can be switched off.
Don't think I can help you any further with this.

Here lies the problem...I can't remember how I set up my user (or why). Maybe time to wipe the SD card and start again! thanks for responding anyway :)

Maybe menu System / Profiles / Login and set auto login to 'last used profile' and disable login screen.
As I mentioned before: this has no relation to user Pi that is used on the system level. It's purely XBMC.
