Latest Libreoffice

Wed Aug 27, 2014 12:21 pm

Hi guys!

Since I'm new here I'd like to present myself a little. I've been reading and using linux (most every major distribution) since 1995. I'm a selflearned enthusiast with my focus on raspberry pi at present. I'm a member of the DSL community and after that the Tiny Core community etc. I use the raspberry pi as an office computer and for programming. When it comes to office use I decided to make this request for the Latest cut of Libreoffice since it has a very professional feeling and works flawlessly. I know that it's a beast to compile but since I don't have the skills or hardware to be able to make it, I make this request. I would be very happy if someone could take on this task and I think others would appreciate it also. ;)

Have fun,

Raspbian Wheezy = version 3.5.xx

Raspbian Jessie Testing = version 4.3.xx

Arch Linux Arm = version 4.3.xx

..considering Raspbian Wheezy is based off Debian Wheezy ARMHF it is unlikey to be updated to version 4.x.xx

Therefore the easiest option is to upgrade to Raspbian Jessie Testing by changing the Raspbian sources

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ wheezy main contrib non-free rpi
to
deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi

Please note you will likely have to overclock the Pi to get reasonable response times, but it is not a Desktop PC replacement
Rather than negativity think outside the box !
RPi 4B 4GB (SSD Boot)..
Asus ChromeBox 3 Celeron is my other computer...
