Car power switch

So I am building myself a little gps system for my car and am planning on using a pi to drive it, however the constant power on and off is making me worried about corrupting the sd card.

I saw the Mausberry car switch and it looked perfect, however it's out of stock

Does anyone have any other inexpensive solutions to gracefully shutdown the pi when power is cut?

IIRC the Mausberry switch is actually a different. See https://mausberry-circuits.myshopify.co ... ply-switch.
The Pi is powered by the permanent 12v supply. When the ignition is switched off, the the Pi gets a signal to shut down.
So you don't really need a battery backup...

I use the Pi UPS out of Germany. When it detects a power loss, it acts like a UPS and sends a safe shutdown signal to your Pi.

Wow I love the work your doing! I will defiantly look into setting it up on mine

I was mainly looking for a cheaper option as the pi ups is approx $50 AUD and the mausberry circuit was going to be only $15 or so, but looks like I will have to go with the pi ups option, which will probably be better in the long run.

I have looked at this setup, but I can't seem to find a good osd layout for my 800x480 display I'm gonna mess around with some custom ones though, was just hoping there might be some different nav software that looks nice, but there isn't that I have found

Is there any update on your setup? I saw you were starting a motorcycle version, did that get completed?
