Strange error message when attaching USB hard disk drive

Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:48 am

When I attach a hard disk drive via the USB port I get error messages like the following every few seconds in the dmesg log:

[ 375.378414] usb 1-1.2: new high speed USB device number 4 using dwc_otg
[ 375.378567] DEBUG:handle_hc_chhltd_intr_dma:: XactErr without NYET/NAK/ACK

This is with Debian and the latest kernel (3.1.9+ #110).

Power is not an issue as the disk is being powered separately from the USB power line.

The disk is attached using a cheap USB/SATA converter (as available on eBay etc.)

I am wondering if this is a pi software problem or an issue with the USB implementation in the USB/SATA adapter.

The USB/SATA adapter works fine when connected to a PC.

This has shown up in a lot of threads already.

Try searching the forum for "NYET/NAK/ACK".
