TP-WN722N

After trying an old Philips dongle, which didn't work, I decided to do it properly and bought a TP-WN722N, it should work, it even has a how to. It doesn't and there is nothing wrong with the dongle, I'm using it with a PC to post this message. Are there any USB wifi devices that actually work?

Lots of WiFi devices work.

There should be no problem with a TP-WN722N, I assume you are using the instructions on http://elinux.org/RPi_Peripherals#Wirel ... ebian_6.29

How do you know that your device is not working fully? How far in the instructions did you get before you saw a problem?

Have you tried it in a network with security disabled? Most people have problems with network security.

Are you using a powered USB hub?

Thanks for the reply, any help appreciated. I'm using a belkin powered hub, one from the verified list. That definitely is working. I don't think it is wireless security, debian loads the module, sees the usb device, but doesn't list any device under wlan0. To be honest I have had this problem with linux systems before, their native driver support is pretty bad. The cheat way around it on an X86 system is ndiswrapper.

Anyway I thought I would give ARCH ago, I had it working on an eeepc, the machine I'm using at the moment, which is now Lubuntu. Once I've figured out how to resize an ext4 partition. Oh well.

I have the same TP-Link dongle. I couldn't get it to work with Arch either. It does work perfectly with the new Puppy Alpha 3 release.No idea why!

According to linuxwireless TP-WN722N requires firmware[1]. Installing the nonfree wireless driver package should solve this problem. The puppy distro comes with firmware, maybe?
