Jasper Question

Sun Jul 13, 2014 2:29 am

This is a question about jasper, I have how all this could work played out in my head but I have to idea on how to start it. I want to automate my house using jasper for the raspberry pi. I know the jasper can be customized with what responses you want. I need to know how I can show him where to pull information from. I want to make jasper when told to turn on a TV that it will do so etc.. like if I say "turn on tv" how will it know to turn on the tv? how will it know to give it power? and same thing for other things in the house. if you cant answer even a point in the right direction would be awesome, I don't know where to start. I've watched 100 videos on python programming, but they all only go over the basics. is programming what I need to be looking at? and how would I tie all these things such as lights and a tv into the pi?

Mostly that's a hardware question not a jasper/python question. You'll need something that plugs into the wall, then plug your lamp into that, and communicate with it via wires or wirelessly. Google 'raspberry pi home automation' to start your research.
