GPIO power question (UBEC)

Fri Jun 27, 2014 10:48 pm

Possibly a slightly dumb question. On my raspberry pi v2 are the two 5v power GPIO pins that are next to each other the same? I have a UBEC with a connecter that connect to the 5V and ground that are right next to each other (so pins 4 and 6 on http://www.hobbytronics.co.uk/raspberry-pi-gpio-pinout) but all of the examples I've seen show pins 2 and 6 connecting to the UBEC. Is there a difference? I don't want to fry my pi.
I'm planning to power my pi with a solar panel. I have one already that is happily charging a 6v battery from an expired ride on toy. I've connected the UBEC to the battery and it seems to be providing the right voltage, so I hope all will be good. I'm planning for this to be my shed security system, it's my 4th pi and will be the first that is not mains powered.
Thanks in advance.

All 5V0 pins are joined to the 5V0 line on the microUSB connector.
All GND pins are joined to the GND line on the microUSB connector.
All 3V3 pins are joined to the 3V3 output from the voltage reg.

I'll report back with whether or not it went bang when I plug it in.
