Cleaning the RPi camera lens

Thu Jun 19, 2014 9:18 pm

I think my remote motion detecting RPi camera has gotten a dirty lens, any advice how to clean it? Earbud (q-tip for our readers across the pond) and alcohol maybe?

Cheers

Steve

That's is what I would be inclined to do, but what you do is entirely up to you - I cannot say whether that will work, not work, break it or whatever.

I realize this is an old post but thought I would comment just in case someone else comes across this.

Generally you should always use something like canned air before you try to wipe the lens with anything. That way hopefully any abrasive particles will be removed before you wipe the lens with a q-tip or microfiber cloth (for bigger lenses)
