RCA Video?

Mon May 26, 2014 12:00 am

Can someone link me to an RCA video cord on amazon that'll work with the Pi? I can't seem to find what it needs.
Thanks.

Almost any screened cable with the correct connector on both ends will work to a degree, although a proper coaxial cable as shown in Dougie's link would be close to ideal. If you're getting no picture at all, maybe your composite video output isn't enabled?
Pi2B Mini-PC/Media Centre: ARM=1GHz (+3), Core=500MHz, v3d=500MHz, h264=333MHz, RAM=DDR2-1200 (+6/+4/+4+schmoo). Sandisk Ultra HC-I 32GB microSD card on '50=100' OCed slot (42MB/s read) running Raspbian/KODI16, Seagate 3.5" 1.5TB HDD mass storage.

Which Pi? The model B+ moved the video into the audio connector. An ipod 3.5mm - 3x rca av cable should work for that based on my reading, although the left and right audio may be reversed. I haven't had a chance to test this, although I have a cable on order.

Here's a possible cable for the B+ model ONLY.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UCU72U/

For the model A or B, the rca-rca cables should work.

If you have not got a picture on composite with the right cable, try disconnecting any HDMI monitor you have attached when booting. I read something somewhere about holding down a key on the keyboard while booting, but don't know how that works.

Sincerely,

Ron

If you're on a B+ (or anything else for that matter) we've just had a large discussion about RCAs: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 91&t=82560

It might be interesting for you to have a scroll through.

To be complete:

Keys pressed after boot in noobs may help to see something on your display:

1 to select HDMI preferred mode
2 to select HDMI safe mode
3 to select Composite PAL mode (for instance, Europe, China, India and Australia)
4 to select Composite NTSC mode (for instance, North America, South Korea, and Taiwan)

It's 3 for PAL colour TVs or 4 for NTSC color (no u) TVs
