Query on Remote

Fri May 23, 2014 6:06 am

Hi, total beginner here - and hoping to learn a few things. Have a heap of questions!
Am up and running with pi and XBMC for video streaming over LAN. We're having trouble with remote control.
Is it true navigating (play, pause, ff, rewind etc) is possible without having to bring up the OSD and move to/from the various options?

I was told you could do this and also type in a time to skip ahead or back via the keypad. I've got 2 remotes and neither will do this. One doesn't have a keypad (and doesn't appear to work at all). The other is the Panasonic keypad using CEC and that takes you always to the OSD. (It's keypad numbers have no effect).

I have to read up as much as could find but not all is that easy to follow. Maybe I have the wrong input device selected, or maybe I need to manually edit the keypad file. Would this give the remote control more or better functionality ?
It would be great if someone could set me right here!

Thanks

Have you looked at the app in Google play?

No. Is that the XBMC App ? Possibly worth looking into but I'd like to sort the remote problem first.
