Thumb joystick

Hi guys

I'm working on a project, and wanted to use a thumb joystick like the one here

I'm only really bothered about it having 4 directions, and select. so ideally i'd like it to be momentary switches (for digital output), rather than pots (analog output), that way i can wire it to the pi dialectally without the need for a micro-controller.

Does anyone know, either of a set that comes with a preprogramed controller, or a microswitch version? or am i better simply doing things with buttons?

Sadly we don't have much choise in small digital joystick...

Quiet the opposite, its too big, I'm looking at tiny ones, about the size of the PSP joysticks ... I'm sure i'll find a soultion, someone must be selling them with analogue to digital converters, or similar...

Ah, for now i'm just going to go with buttons. Not as clean as a joystick, but its only for my own personal use.

The Nintendo Wii nunchucks output over an I2C interface.

connect the adafruit joystick to a MCP3008 analogue to digital converter(about £5.00) and connect via SPI?

Didnt want to do that, takes up more space than i've got really :/

I'd seen that, and i'm looking at a nunchucky Just need to work out how to interface it with the Pi. If anyone has any usefull tutorials, pointing me at them would be appreciated.
