Remote audio

Can anyone offer any information about using a Raspberry Pi to access sound files (via wifi) from a network storage device, and then output the audio to a pair of loudspeakers?
Thanks.

Sounds like a fairly easy media player application, just connect the speakers to the pi's headphone output and a wifi dongle in the USB port.

The media centres forum is probably the best place to check for advice, there may be a guide there already to cover this.

Mount the NAS device with Samba/cifs or NFS.
cd to the directory that holds the sound files and you can play them with mplayer.
