Question about DSI Screens for Raspberry Pi

Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:59 pm

A few simple very simple questions that will make my life a LOT easier:

- Does the DSI connector work for screen usage? (as of right now? 06/05/2012)

- Are there ANY plug and play screens for this connector? Please mention one.

- Are there ANY screens that require additional circuitry to work through DSI?

I wanted to make an "all in one" computer using the Raspberry Pi and a 7-10.1 laptop/tablet screen. Is there's an easy way to connect the screen through the DSI? or should I go for the HDMI connection?

Simple answer. No.

The foundation is working on a camera, and after that they will eventually get on to LCD screens. At some point they will sell at least one camera and at least one screen which you can use with the RaspPi.

Both cameras and screens require firmware tuned to the precise device. All devices are different. Only the GPU has the throughput to support either one, so the work has to be done by people with access to Broadcom IP.

Just thought I would post this as I'm planning on a similar idea. It's out of stock at the moment but hopefully we'll see more soon.
