setup Pi as wireless web server

Sat Apr 26, 2014 9:28 pm

My Model B is getting ready for a test run at a remote location to see if my solar power math is enough for it to run. I am running wheezy from Jan 2014.

To do that, I've set up the pi with ssh, static IP over eth0 and wlan0 with my linksys router using these instructions:
http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 91&t=31003

My wifi applet on the GUI could not find the antenna even though it has a blue light on its own powered USB hub.

I found a tutorial for installing wicd-curses, but cannot find that link in my history. It finds the antenna fine and I am able to connect it to continue this project.

This is the USB antenna I'm using:

But it must be a self-contained unit so I must be able to connect to it with my iphone using a browser to collect its data on the web application I'm going to run to test its health. So I found this tutorial and followed it to be on a different network than my Linksys network. But I cannot find it with my iphone. I have turned off my Linksys router and it still cannot be found.

Perhaps it's not an appropriate antenna, or perhaps the wicd-curses is blocking it.

How should I troubleshoot it? What should I do next?, thanx, sam

Ultimately I'd like to run it with a larger directional antenna but that is after I get this first step done.
