A case from an old musicassette

Fri Apr 18, 2014 8:53 pm

Hi, I made a simple and cheap case from an old musicassette, I discovered they are almost perfect for that purpose.

Interesting project, seems like you needed to do a lot of cutouts.

Yes, a lot of cutout, because while the width and height are perfect, everything higher than a few millimeters needs a hole. Notice the round hole for C6 capacitor :-)
But I think it can be done better, that was just a quick experiment with rude tools, and a lot of tiny pieces that should be there did break.

I wonder how much less cutting would be involved if you used a cassette case rather than a cassette shell.

Yes, but that has already been done :-)
Joking apart, I wanted something that fitted more tightly. And I think it can be more "fancy" too.

I'd like to see a compute module in a cassette, that would be even cooler

but yes, I LOVE the case :)
